Onychology- The study of human nail in health and disease states.
Audience
Our audience includes health care workers dealing with the study of human nail in health and disease states. These include dermatologists, internists, surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists.Review Process
JONS has a highly rigorous peer-review process that makes sure that manuscripts are scientifically accurate, relevant, novel and important. Authors disclose all conflicts, affiliations and financial associations such that the published content is not biased.
Editorial Team
The editorial board comprises a panel of experts from various disciplines of medical and allied sciences pertaining to onychology. They provide their expertise and guidance in maintaining the clarity of content and focus on the purpose for the journal.About the Editor
Dr Chander Grover, MD, DNB, MNAMS, FIAD is currently working as Director Professor, Department of Dermatology and STD, University College of Medical Sciences, and GTB Hospital, Delhi, India. She has vast and varied experience (Academic, Research and Clinical care) in onychology and nail surgery. She has a teaching Experience of over 21 years. She is currently the Vice President of Nail Society of India (2023-2024), for which she was also the Founding Secretary (2012 onwards). She has held various positions in IADVL (Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists), IADVL Academy, IADVL- Special Interest Group on Dermatosurgery and IADVL- Delhi State Branch. She is the Deputy Editor for Indian Dermatology Online Journal, Managing Editor for UCMS Journal of Medical Sciences, and has served as Section Editor with IJDVL (2012-2022). She also serves on the Editorial Board of reputed journals like Skin Appendage Disorders, Indian Journal of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and AIDS, & Indian J Medical Specialities.She is a prolific author with >185 Pubmed Indexed articles (h-index:32). Some of these have been awarded in various categories and extensively cited. She has authored/ co-authored or edited 8 books or monographs. Apart from this, she has >80 non-indexed articles and >80 chapters in books to her credit. She has been invited for >300 national and international lectures including WCD 2023 Keynote lecture, prestigious BM Ambady Oration of IADVL (2018) and PN Behl Oration of ACSI (2023). Among her notable awards are (chronologically) Prof VN Sehgal Award- 2021 by IADVL, Young Cutaneous Surgeon Award-2019 by ACSI, Best Thesis Based Award- 2018, Best Young Dermatologist Award- 2002 and Dr. VN Sehgal Gold Medal for Excellence in Dermatology, 2002. She is the recipient of various scholarship, grants and fellowships including WCD ‘Travel Scholarship’-2019, Honorary Fellowship, RSF, Kolkata, International Fellowship of American Academy of Dermatology- 2015, and AAD Reciprocal Scholarship- 2006. Her areas of interest include Nail disorders (especially nail biopsy, therapeutics, and histopathology), Dermatosurgery (especially nail surgery, nail tumors), Dermatoscopy (especially onychoscopy and nail fold capillaroscopy), and Pediatric dermatology.
Facts About the Journal
It is a peer-reviewed international journal with a double-blind review process. Its frequency of publication is Semi-annual (2 issues a year). It publishes the article once it’s accepted after peer review.Benefits

The journal uses plagiarism check software (iThenticate) on the Editor’s and Reviewer’s panel in the manuscript management system which is used to check and control Plagiarism for each article. Any manuscript, that is found to have plagiarism is rejected.Archival Policy

Ahead of Print Policy
Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Journal of Onychology and Nail Surgery has a policy that changes will not be made after the publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.
Advertisements
While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content are not biased or influenced by the advertisement.
